It's hard to believe Jacksonville was once known as "The Winter Film Capital
of the World." Thousands of films were shot in Jacksonville during the golden era of silent films. Unfortunately, the
majority of silent films were destroyed when the technology was deemed dated. The First Coast is no longer Hollywood
of the East, but a handful of notable films have been made either partially or fully in Jacksonville. 1. Creature from the Black Lagoon This 1954 horror classic was one of the
first films shot in 3D. Parts of the film were shot in Jacksonville, while other parts were shot just south of St. Augustine.
The Lobster House, a popular restaurant, can be seen clearly in certain parts of the film. The building is now occupied by
River City Brewery.

If you have not yet seen the master plan for the redevelopment of the former Jacksonville
Shipyards property in downtown Jacksonville, which includes the USS CHARLES F. ADAMS DDG-2 museum, please click the link
below. https://vimeo.com/119653089 Please share this information with your association members. The overall
project is being completed by the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars football team, Shad Khan. Whereas these grandiose development
plans for the former shipyard property are not happening soon, establishing the ship museum is, and will be the first step
in the creation of a truly wonderful facility. Wayne Misenar
