Maui/Lahina

We visited Maui on our 2024 trip

I’m a paragraph. Drag me to add paragraph to your block, write your own text and edit me.

Our hearts are broken

We sat together at the bar last week in Sacramento and talk always came around to what we were going to do next summer in Hawaii. We had decided a while ago that we were going to end the trip, after reunion in Oahu, on Maui.
In 2014, Turilli took me to Maui and we spent a day in Lahaina, with lunch and drinks at the Pioneer. We spent hours wandering around the bar looking at all the pictures and ship memoribilia on the walls of the bar.
After the fire on August 9, 2023, Lahaina is gone.
After some research, our association has decided to send a check for $1000.00 to the Hawaii Community Foundation: Maui Strong Fund. Go to the menu above (three little bars at the top) and click Show Hawaii our Navy love. It will take you to the ship store where you can donate just like we do with the 50-50.

Thank you for your donations to the Maui Strong fund!

At last accounting, we have raised and sent $5000.00 to the Maui Strong fund! Nancy O'Donnell won the 50-50 raffle at the reunion and has donated the entire amount to the fund. Keep them in your prayers as this tragedy has taken a back seat to all the other things going on in the world.
